Why there is never a right Time to Tackle a Weight Problem

Too often we say that we are waiting for the right time to do things – look for a new job, go back to school, or tackle a weight problem. But what inevitably happens is that the fabled “right time” never appears and we keep putting the issue off. With a weight problem, waiting for the right time that may never come could have major implications on your overall health and you may not be able to afford to wait.

Whether your problem with your weight is regarding a need to lose weight or to gain weight, the magical “right time” to tackle the issue is non-existent. The old phrase “there is no time like the present” comes to mind. Putting off tackling a weight issue can potentially cause the issue to become more extreme in the interim and waiting for the time you think is “right” might mean waiting forever.

Instead of waiting for the right time to tackle your issue with your weight, why not grab the bull by the horns and get started immediately. Even if you have to take baby steps rather than charging right in, something is better than nothing. Sometimes starting slowly can be the easiest way to ease yourself into the solution rather than jumping in feet first. Don’t think that you have to go all in right away, you can certainly take your time and make small changes at first. Every major change in life starts with one first step. You have to start somewhere, so if you feel more comfortable starting small and working your way up, approach your weight problem that way. At least you will be moving in the right direction.

Tackling a weight problem can be an intimidating process but don’t let that scare you off and discourage you from getting started. The problem is not going to get better on its own without action on your part and if you continue to wait for the right moment or the perfect time to get started, you may be waiting a long time. There is no time like the present to start making the positive changes to your lifestyle and habits that will help you take on your weight issues and come out on the other side.

Waiting for the right time is really just an excuse to postpone dealing with the issue because you are afraid. You have nothing to be afraid of. It may not be the easiest process, but it will not kill you. Ignoring the issue won’t make it better, you might as well give yourself a chance and jump in!
