Taking Lunch to Work

Eating lunch during working hours leaves a number of people spending a small fortune just to eat during the week. Unfortunately the thought of packing a lunch for work has never occurred to them or they find some reason why they shouldn’t. There are a number of advantages to taking your lunch to work.

Saving Money

Even if you only spend $2 or $3 on lunch by being thrifty at the end of the week that’s $10 to $15 that you could have kept in your pocket. Most people spend anywhere from $5 to $20 a day on themselves. You can put that back into your pocket if you’re consistent you’ll see a large increase in your savings at the end of the year. Even if there is a slight increase in the grocery bill it’ll be less than you spend eating out. You can even use your leftovers for lunch the next day.

Time

You’ll have more time during the regular thirty minute to hour lunch break most people are limited to. When you take your lunch to work with you there is no need to take precious time you could be eating trying to get to a restaurant or even the cafeteria at work. All you have to do is take lunch out of your desk or walk a few feet to the break room to begin your lunch. When you’re done with lunch you can spend a few minutes socializing or just taking care of some personal business you might not have had time to take care of otherwise. Lunch is always better when you don’t feel rushed.

Healthier Lunches

Going out to eat makes it easier to give into unhealthy and all too often fattening temptations. When you pack your lunch for work you control all aspects of what you’re eating. You can put healthier alternatives that help your overall health and your weight. If you’re watching your waistline you can pack healthier foods instead of the calorie, fat filled choices at the local fast food places.

Increase Productivity

An often overlooked advantage of packing lunch for work is the ability to increase your productivity. When you don’t have to worry about rushing through lunch you can relax and enjoy your meal. The money you save will give you peace of mind and a healthier lunch is less likely to make you feel sluggish after you eat. Being relaxed and still having energy will keep you as productive the last half of the day as you were the first half of the day.

There are lots of advantages of taking your lunch to work. All you have to do is take a minute to think about how much time and money you spend on eating. When all the options are weighed taking a lunch to work is the best way to enjoy your lunch while your working.
