Dynabac is a type of macrolide antibiotic. It may be prescribed to treat skin infections, respiratory tract infections, tonsillitis, staphylcoccus, and other types of bacteria where either tetracycline or penicillin antibbiotics cannot be used. Dynabac is an antibiotic which may not be used in anyone younger than age 12.
People that have liver disease may not be able to take Dynabac at all. Anyone that has a serious blood infection may also not be able to take Dynabac. Women that are pregnant should inform their doctor before receiving Dynabac. Whether or not Dynabac actaully effects the unborn baby is not exactly known nor is it known whether or not Dynabac will pass on into the breast milk of nursing mothers.
Your doctor should also know of other medicines you are taking since some medicines combined together with Dynabac may cause you to have life threatening side effects.
Dynabac needs to be taken just exactly as it is prescribed on the medicine label and until the prescription is finished. The usual dose for children that are aged 12 and older is 500 milligrams daily for up to two weeks if it is needed. If you forget to take a dose of Dynabac, it is important that you not double the dose, but simply go on with your next single scheduled dose.
Stopping this medicine just because you are feeling better may cause a relapse in your illness. Your doctor should inform you of this. Dynabac needs to be taken with a full glass of water and within an hour of eating which will cause this drug to be all the more effective. Dynabac may also make you feel more sensitive to the sunlight so do take caution when you are out in the sun for any length of time.
Dynabac may cause some rare but serious side effects in some people. These types of side effects include abnormal heart rhythms, high blood platelet counts, and high blood potassium levels. Other possible side effects may be stomach pains, upset stomach, and diarrhea. Some people may also develop colitis symptoms which include more severe abdominal pain, and even bloody diarrhea. If these types of side effects would occur, then you need to contact your doctor right away. Allergic reactions are also possible with Dynabac which include hives, facial and tongue swelling, and trouble breathing. Those are emergency symptoms which call for immediate medical treatment.
