Importance of Making Exercise Part of your Daily Routine

Exercise, much like a nutritious diet, restful and sufficient sleep habits and a positive outlook on life, is one of the building blocks for a healthy, long life. For some people, exercise falls into the category of “I’ll get around to it someday.” For others it is so much a part of life they can’t imagine a day without it. Whether you see the apparent value in exercise or simply hope to someday find a place for it in your hectic schedule, you should be aware of the powerful effects it can have on your well being if you make it a part of your daily routine.

Weight Control

Exercise burns calories, pure and simple. The more you are able to fit proper exercise into your daily routine, the better you will be able to control your weight without having to resort to dieting or other weight loss measures. It doesn’t have to be a formal exercise program to be effective. Small changes, such as taking the stairs, parking farther away from your destination and walking or pushing that lawn mower all add up.

Exercise builds muscle and gives you the strength and energy you need to carry out the activities of your life. In addition to strength, those newly developed muscles will provide shape and definition to your body, making you look and feel your best at every age and stage of life.

Promotes Healthy Sleep

A good exercise routine every day will help you sleep soundly each night. There’s nothing like a good workout each day to inspire your body to seek a good rest at night.

Cardiovascular Energy

Exercise opens your lungs, gets your heart pumping and gets that oxygen moving through your body. This will keep you strong and energized throughout the other activities of your day.

Builds Strong Bones

Exercise will provide the resistance and weight bearing activities you need to maintain bone health throughout life. There is no vitamin or pill you can take that will give you the overall physical well being you can achieve with exercise.

Positive Outlook

Exercise is fun! Whether you work out with weights in the gym or on the volleyball court with friends, exercise is one of those activities that can seem more like play than work. It’s a great way to socialize and to entertain yourself. Your mood will be brighter and your outlook on the world more positive if you make exercise an essential part of your daily routine.
