There are many ways to lose weight, but the easiest and healthiest way is by taking it slow and making gradual lifestyle and dietary changes. However, there are also fast and healthy ways to lose weight, but it will take more determination and hard work.
Start by eliminating empty calorie foods such as donuts, cookies and cakes, and replace them with low calorie, nutrient rich foods such as fruits and vegetables.
To avoid hunger, add in avocados, coconuts and nuts and seeds. These foods are high in calories, but they are also very filling, and thus they can actually help to reduce the overall calorie intake, especially when added in with leaf vegetables.
Juice Diet (Juice Fast)
The juice diet is probably one of the best ways to lose weight fast, as it can help to lose up to a pound a day or more. The diet involves drinking freshly made fruit and vegetables juices for a short period of time. Those who have never done a juice fast before, may only want to stay on the diet for a day or so. Then as the body gets used to the diet, it can then be continued for up to 2 weeks or longer. The longer one stays on the diet, the more weight can be lost.
The only downfall of the juice diet is that some of the weight may come back if a healthy diet is not maintained afterwards.
High Fiber Foods
Plant-based foods are high in fiber, and thus they can help to clean out the digestive tract, and eliminate all kinds of digestive problems such as constipation, diarrhea, gas and bloating. When the digestive system works properly, weight can be lost more efficiently.
In addition, high fiber foods also help to increase the metabolism, which is essential when it comes to weight loss.
Avoid Fluids High in Sugar and Caffeine
Fluids are absolutely essential when it comes to weight loss, but they need to be clean fluids such as water, herbal tea and freshly made fruit and vegetables juices.
Sodas and commercially packaged drinks are high in sugar, and contain unnecessary calories and/or other harmful ingredients that contribute to weight gain. Caffeine not only dehydrates, but it also increases appetite and food cravings. Thus those drinks should be avoided by those who are trying to lose weight fast.
Lots of Exercise
Getting lots of exercise is also very important, but at the same time, it is just as important not to overdo it, as that could have adverse effects. An hour a day, 3-5 days a week is all that is needed for maximum results.
Running and other cardio exercises along with moderate strength training are great for helping to retain muscle mass and burn off excess fat cells.
Studies have shown that reducing stress can help in weight loss, as it reduces the production of cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that is needed in order for the body to cope with stress. But when stress is not eliminated, then the body produces excess amounts of cortisol, which then contributes to weight gain.
Simple ways to reduce stress are to get plenty of rest and sleep, as well as meditation and simple yoga exercises.
