How to help your Hair through Nutrition

When it comes to achieving a beautiful head of shiny smooth hair, foods play a role. In this article I’d like to point out exactly which foods are best to keep your hair as healthy and attractive as possible.

Dried beans which are known as legumes, are GREAT for hair health. Legumes give you proteins for one things, and other key nutrients such as biotin, zinc, and iron. Whether you have ever thought about this or not, these three things give your hair growth and life. Though it is not a very common occurrence, a lack of biotin will cause a person to have hair that is dry, brittle, and even falls out.

Two of the best leafy green vegetables for your hair health are spinach and swiss chard (and don’t forget, broccoli)! These three vegetables all have one thing in common for hair health and that is that they all provide the vitamins A and C. Vitamin A helps to promote the growth of hair that is healthy and shiny, and Vitamin C helps hair follicles by promoting stimulation to them in the body on a daily basis.

Salmon can also play a great role in helping your hair health and growth. Salmon is loaded with those omega-3 fatty acids, which help your scalp to keep the right levels of moisture, preventing the drying out of hair.

Believe it or not, nuts are also a hair health helper. Walnuts contain an omega-3 fatty acid known as alpha-linolenic acid. This acid acts as a natural conditioner for your hair. Brazil nuts also contain the mineral known as selenium. Selenium is another mineral which stimulates the hair follicles. This micro-nutrient also stimulates the antioxidants to work for your immune system, working to fight off many types of free radicals.

Carrots help the hair since they contain Vitamin A in the form of beta carotene. One cup of carrots every day will do wonders for your hair health. Besides hair, Vitamin A is also a cancer-fighting vitamin, preventing cancer cells from growing and multiplying.

Calcium is not only important for bones, but also for your hair growth. You can get your calcium food sources from eggs, low-fat yogurts, skim milk, and low-fat cottage cheese. Adding some of these foods every day, will add hair benefits along with helping your bones.

As you can see then from reading this article, eating these foods will help you have a healthy head of hair with many other health benefits!
