How the Paleo Solution Diet Program Works

The Paleo Solution (short for The Paleolithic Solution) is a follow up to the The Paleo Diet by Dr. Loren Cordain. The new and improved version of the diet plan is designed to coincide with today’s lifestyle. Released in September 2010, “The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet” by Robb Wolf and Dr. Loren Cordain, offers advice, meal planning, information and tools for people who are ready to get fit and lose weight. But how does The Paleo Solution work and what makes it different from other diet plans?

The Paleo Solution is more of a theory diet than a calorie reduction diet like most other diet plans. The theory is to get back to our roots and eat the way our ancestors did – unprocessed foods and adding exercise. Since our ancestors, going back for centuries, did more physical labor than we do today, people are steadily becoming obese and not getting enough exercise. And with our busy lifestyles, processed foods have become the norm.

Foods included in The Paleo Solution follow the original Paleo Diet – fruits, vegetables, nuts, eggs, fish, and lean proteins. Processed foods including sugar, legumes, dairy, and many refined products are not allowed on the diet. Along with following the diet, you also need to follow an exercise routine. The Paleo Solution book offers an exercise plan you can follow.

The Good
The Paleo Solution has its good qualities. Processed foods are not healthy or a natural way of eating. Any diet program that encourages exercise also can’t be all that bad. The program is perfect for people with heart disease, diabetes, and Celiac disease. If followed correctly, people should lose weight and become healthier on The Paleo Diet.

The Bad
The Paleo Solution provides a 30-day program which may not be enough time for people to adjust to the program. People need to remember to follow The Paleo Solution for longer than 30 days for ultimate results – in fact, this should be a lifestyle change, not just a momentary change. Because The Paleo Diet includes lean meats, fish, and eggs, the program isn’t vegetarian or vegan friendly. And for people who enjoy their grains like bread and cereal, the program may be hard to follow.

The Ugly
The Paleo Solution doesn’t have an ugly side however; it doesn’t offer anything new that we didn’t already know. It’s common knowledge that the best diet for humans is including plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins while avoiding the over-processed garbage lining the supermarket shelves. It’s also common knowledge that our body needs exercise to stay in shape and stay healthy.

The Paleo Solution book boasts that it incorporates “cutting edge research….to help you look, feel and perform your best.” Further, it makes claims that The Paleolithic Solution can help you “lose fat and stay young, all while avoiding cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and a host of other illnesses.” Those are big claims made by many diet programs that should be taken with a grain of salt because nothing can fully prevent these diseases. However, without a doubt, The Paleo Solution diet program is a healthier way of living if you are one of the millions of people living a non-active lifestyle filled with preservatives and processed foods.
