Best Antioxidants Foods

The power of antioxidants has become well known in the last few years and people who want to stay healthy and youthful are loading up on them. The most popular sources are cranberry and pomegranate juice, green tea, and nuts.

Have you noticed how popular green tea has become? Green tea was added to lab samples of a cold bug, and actually stopped it from replicating. To get the most benefits from green tea, microwave a cup of water, drop in a bag of green tea, cover and let it steep for about three to four minutes. Juice or honey makes an excellent substitute for sugar.

The cranberry has hit the top with the powerful blueberry for all around antioxidant benefits. The health benefits of cranberry juice have been well tested and proven. This incredible tart berry is packed with powerful antioxidants. Cranberries have been proven to lower cholesterol, protect the heart, and improve circulation while it flushes impurities out of the urinary tract.

The pomegranate has climbed high on the list of super foods with its high levels of antioxidants, and for good reason. The pomegranate is said to fight everything from heart disease to cancer. In ancient times, pomegranates represented fertility due to the many seeds.

Early Christians believed them to be from the tree of life. Pomegranates hung in the temple where the Savior preached. Even today, pomegranates are used in Christian Churches as a symbol of eternal life through Jesus Christ who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…”

Of course, we can’t forget the power of garlic, which has been known for centuries as being full of potent antioxidants and offers a multitude of healthy benefits. Then there are the dark green vegetables such as spinach and broccoli. Carrots are also full of antioxidants, along with tomatoes, which are also high in lycopene, a carotenoid that fights cancer.

Nuts such as walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts and macadamia, are not only full of antioxidants, they’re jam-packed with heart-healthy omega-3 acids which lower high cholesterol. Furthermore, studies have shown that nuts have the potential to fight free radicals associated with cancer. Is it any wonder why so many people are choosing nuts over chips?

It has been known for years that grape juice and red wine (in moderation) are high in antioxidants. And it is important to remember that it is in the skin, which is why red wine is higher in antioxidants because white wine has the skin removed.

Therefore, with the power of antioxidants we can lead healthier lives and keep our skin and hair vibrant. Our minds will be sharper and we’ll feel so much better. Our stomach’s are not garbage cans so why consume garbage. Eat and drink healthier to look and feel better. You’re worth it.
